boat pics

Top one is Joyce at the helm to be, no wheel, hydraulic steering controlled by a toggle switch and an autopilot. Next are the winches for the anchors and the guardrails, and finally the kitchen, sink still on order. Cannot wait to fire up that stove and have some pizza.
For those of you in S.F. I will be at the Valley Tavern Sun the 3rd at 4 pm and would love to see you.
Joyce and I will come back for a longer stay sometime soon before we push off into the wild blue so don't despair.

The sea is not level

(Sherman Robertson, playing at Festival International last night)

I'm going totally nuts trying to build the walls to the head. Nothing on a boat is level, plumb, or square. At one point I had the boat's crane hooked to the ass end of the truck to get the boat reasonably level and then of course the tide changed. The shower stall I got is for a house and the pan has only enough pitch for a level floor, and if I level the stall it looks like the leaning tower of Pisa inside the boat. Using the end of a garden hose as an outdoor shower is looking better and better but then there's my marriage to consider.
I will be in S.F. for a brief visit compliments of my insurance carrier to attend the umpteenth settlement conference to the ongoing six year saga of the Martin affair and will be making a pit stop at the Tavern on Sun afternoon, May 3, be there or be square.

coming soon!

We installed the winches, yet to be powered, doors and windows are in, the toilet arrived, it's lovely, cute , and ELECTRIC! Only 12 volt, but still, I've never had an electric toilet. I'm not sure what to expect. Had the exhaust pipes wrapped in special thermal blankets, they get cherry red and very hot when running, not what you want to brush up against in a roiling sea. We're scoping out the kitchen ( O. K., galley )- commercial stove, prep tables, and stainless steel two bay sink, small refrigerators like you see in offices on counter tops and a large freezer. Still years of painting to do and color schemes to argue about but we're closing in on the rapturous day we sail away from this fucking swamp. Just kidding John.

Bathroom wall!

we have a bathroom! all of us have been waiting for this moment.

David is sending us a toilet- macerating. Special toilet. The shower will be outdoors (Lorenzo). No, the shower will be indoors (Joyce). The shower will be indoors, but then the sink won't fit. We will get a smaller sink, a miniscule sink, a sink even smaller than the one in Muz's downstairs bathroom. Your knees will hit the shower door when you're on the toilet. Then we'll just get a shower curtain. No, not a shower curtain! Etc. etc.
