Provincetown to Wellfleet, MA
N 41 54.422, W -70 03.656
21 miles, under way 3.5 hours

Pretty funny, considering these towns are about ten minutes apart.  We anchored out at Great Island:  the most beautiful spot.  In the world, maybe.  Oysters all over the place.  Early this morning we took the dinghy in to shore, and went for a long walk.  Found a porpoise stranded on the beach- we saw a ranger right after that, so maybe she was able to get it help.  When we got back to the dinghy, the tide had gone out, and we had to swim back.

We are sooooo lazy.  Reading books, swimming, napping, trips to the market, and more napping, and occasional chores.  Very nice here.  We're about halfway between the west end of Ptown and Long Point and well protected.  The water is clearer than I've ever seen it, a good 10 ft of visibility.  All the seaweed  and other strange things we see on the bottom are starting to grow on our hull, very cute little ecosystem.
We're off to town to find some pizza.

Low tide, sitting on the bottom. Need to move to deeper water.
Cats are happy, life is good, Ptown is great.
Waiting for lobster guy to come check his pots- we want some.

Had a wonderful time at Marcel's, great food, lots of Boelitzs, brother and nephew of Christina, and even baby Boelitzs.  And no bloodshed.  I don't know what this family is coming to, we must be getting old.

Marcel to the rescue!

He read the blog and offered to drive up from Eastham and take our Mercury to the dealer in Orleans and pick up another outboard. The Merc was slipping out of gear when run hard so it might just a an adjustment or worn gears, it's under warranty so whatever. Now we have a backup motor, Yamaha 4hp, which is always a good idea. I've never had much luck with small motors.
Next Sunday we go back to Marcel's house for a family party.

Snee and his friend Deb came down yesterday on the fast ferry.  It was great fun to see them for lunch and spend a few hours.  Lorenzo and Snee go back so far it takes them a while just to cover their mutual friends.  We brought them back safely to the main wharf, and then our outboard started to conk out- so we're sitting here contemplating what to do with it.

Buzzards Bay to Provincetown, MA
N 42 02.203, W -70 10.997
32 miles, under way 5 hours

Ah, the mecca that is P-town, on 4th of July weekend.
AAAAAAAAAGGGGHHHHHHH !!!!!!!!!

So I figured we'd slip in here, find a spot, and check with the harbormaster to make sure all was okay.  We came around Long Point to see 500 boats all over the place, in all stages of the learning process.  After landing the dinghy in three different spots, we finally located the harbormaster hiding under his desk.  Had a pleasant dinner on Bubala's patio watching the passing parade.  Things should calm down a bit after the weekend.

Point Judith, RI to Buzzards Bay, MA
N 41 43.198, W -70 37.804
49 miles, under way 8.5 hours

Sitting here at the western end of the Cape Cod canal waiting for the tide to change, the current can run as high as 4 knts so you either shoot through or sit there going nowhere wasting diesel.  After that, we cross over to P-town and the end of our voyage north. If we can find a good spot to anchor we will stay awhile, go walking on Long Point, bicycle to Herring Cove, cruise the strip, and of course go tea dancing with the boys.

Come visit, y'all.

Portsmouth (Island Park) to Point Judith, RI
N 41 22.434, W -71 30.536
25 miles, under way 4.5 hours

We're fueling up in Point Judith, then heading for the Cape.
Water was a bit rough coming here, so we may stay an extra day and give it a chance to calm down.  Tony made his feelings known on this subject.

The beach here hosted a marathon swim at dusk last night- at first, it looked like a fish feeding frenzy.  I grabbed a wetsuit and jumped in, but they were way ahead of me.
