Day 39

NYC to Eatons Neck, Long Island
N 40 57.357, W -73 23.197
43 miles, under way 7 hours

We left New York with the tide Saturday morning.  The idea was to go through Hell Gate with the current- no problem if you time it right.  It was great fun going up the East River and looking at buildings, then passing under famous bridges.  And you pass all those islands that New York devotes to various specialties- prison, power plants, soccer fields.

Along with us came some souvenirs from our anchorage on the Hudson- a skein of stainless steel cable wrapped around the anchor chain with some lead weights and a lot of garbage.
